The Next Web is reporting that Facebook’s “Facebook Live Producer,” which as been rumored to be in testing for over a month, has finally started rolling out to some users.
Look at this screenshot from BuzzFeed video editor Austin Hunt:
If Facebook makes those kinds of video production features available to ANYONE using Facebook video as a baked-in feature on the platform, they may very well start giving YouTube a run for their money as the most dominant video platform.
This sort of video production capability has been available through software like OBS for some time, but never has it been baked into a platform like Facebook is starting to do.
The biggest hindrance for many when they consider creating video content is that the barrier to entry is so much higher than it is to write a blog post or even record a podcast in some cases.
If Facebook takes serious steps to make recording high quality Facebook Live videos easy for anyone on the platform, it will revolutionize the medium.
You can see if the feature is available for you by going to http://facebook.com/live/producer.
If you get a “Page Not Found” like I did (sad face) that means it isn’t available for you yet.
